Abstract

The search for laboratory predictors for early diagnosis of acute appendicitis and making an accurate diagnosis is a goal for modern paediatric surgeons. With the use of various laboratory methods of examination, it is not always possible to make a definitive diagnosis, especially in the presence of complications. Despite the development of medicine at the modern stage, the diagnosis and treatment of acute atypical appendicitis in children remains a current problem in abdominal surgery and is a challenge for modern surgeons. In this literature review, we analyse the inflammatory predictors used individually and in combination during the preoperative algorithm, reflecting the possibility of early treatment of the diagnosis of acute appendicitis.
